Time Lapse at Hang Annex

The current group show at Hang Art Annex features the works of Bay Area artists:   Lea Feinstein, Anthony May & Carolyn Meyer.  It is, however, in most respects primarily a showcase for the recent work of San Francisco-based artist, Phillip Hua.  The majority of the work in the show is his various images of trees, digitally painted; printed onto newspapers; painted again; then wrapped in packing tape and assembled together.  It is emphemeral work, designed to yellow and decompose over time.  It serves, as Mr. Hua states on his website, as “an extended metaphor for our relationship with nature”.  Art for thought.
